A WordPress meetup was organized by the Nashik WordPress Community on April 21 at Staenz Academy near Ashoka Marg, Nashik. The vital aim of organizing the meetup is to gather all the WordPress Enthusiasts, developers, bloggers, designers, marketers together and exchange their knowledge and experience with each other. The WordPress meetup takes place once a month at different venues in the city.
The meetup is specifically organized for the benefit of the WordPress Community as when it comes to the awareness regarding WordPress, people do not even know about it. Anyone in the city can join the community as it is open for all. The community does not differentiate anyone based on their skills. It absorbs everyone.
The objective of this meetup was a discussion on Gutenberg update for WordPress and preparation of the next WordCamp. The Gutenberg update is going to give a seamless experience to the users where the Gutenberg editor will use the blocks to create the content.
Also, the member was discussing the preparation of the next WordCamp to be held in Nashik. The last WordCamp was held in December 2017. WordCamp is a conference where the experts from the online field come together to discuss on various topics related to WordPress. The WordCamp takes place in every corner of the world and Nashik edition has been started from past 2 years.
WordPress Community come together
The meetup was a fun-filled open session where the members discussed on various topics related to the latest technology as well. The co-organizer of WordCamp Nashik and host of the WordPress Meetup Sanjeev Mishra said, “WordPress is an open-source platform as almost everyone is using it because it comes for free. So with this meetup, people come together and discuss their issues with each other so that they could find a solution. So basically it combines the whole community together. I strongly feel that every city should have such meetups so that the people of that community get a chance to talk about it.”
He also explained that such meetups give a chance to the newcomers to learn latest techniques and development in WordPress and gain more information. “Every year we have WordCamp where all the member of the WordPress community come together and exchange knowledge regarding WordPress at a larger level. This immensely helps in the development of the individual as a whole. These meetups should have a proper planning and must have an agenda in order to make them productive. If you are having a planned event then it also gives a takeaway for the newcomers,” added Sanjeev Mishra.
WordCamp becoming popular
Nashik is a developing city and also comes under Smart City Project. Therefore, it is important to make the people aware about various aspects of technology and WordPress is one of it. A city-based WordPress enthusiast, Tejaswini Deshpande says, “I strongly feel that community is an important pillar for the growth of developers. More people should join the community to learn new things. I remember the first WordCamp happened in Nashik in 2016 which got an overwhelming response as around 500 WordPress enthusiasts from all over India has gathered.”
Even during the WordCamp 2017, more than 600 people came together for the exchange of knowledge.”People from WordPress Europe were also there to mark their presence and exchange their thoughts. I feel that Nashik needs more awareness regarding WordPress. This is because there are many businesses in the city who are using WordPress for running the websites. But they do not have a complete knowledge about it. I request that these businesses must join the Nashik WordPress community in order to gain a bigger perspective. This will only help them develop their own business and take it to a whole new level,” opines Tejaswini
