Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich ICS is coming on November 17 with Google Galaxy Nexus smartphone. This new version of Android is coming with lot many new features like voice typing, Android Beam, panoramic camera and many more but for that you will either have to purchase Galaxy Nexus or upgrade the current phone to 4.0. The upgrade also depends on the release by the company who’s product you are using.
That means, it may take longer for your to have the feel on Ice Cream Sandwich on your current Android Phone, Isn’t it?
The answer to the above question is, No. You can install third-party launchers to have the Ice Cream Sandwich feel on your current phone. There are lot many Ice Cream Sandwich launchers available in Android Market for free, you just need to install any of them. One of my favorite is ICS Launcher by Team Syndicate which is available for free. You can install the app on any Android phone running OS version 2.0 or higher.
I installed the app on LG Optimus One P500 running Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Here are few screenshots that I took after installing the app. Once I installed the app and switched to the ICS home screen, the first impression was same as what I had seen on Galaxy Nexus introduction video. I am not having any Android 4.0 feature on current phone but the look is same as the 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
You get few ICS wallpapers with this app as well and it also has the typical 4.0 clock under home screen widgets.
So which is your favorite Ice Cream Sandwich launcher for Android Phone? Are you looking forward to purchase Galaxy Nexus or to upgrade to the new 4.0 version of Android OS? Share your views through comments section.
