Indian market is seeing major players coming into the Android Tablets segment. Few days ago, Reliance Telecommunications launched 3G Tab priced at Rs. 13,000 and now Spice is in the race with MiTab priced at Rs. 12,990. Even Bharti (company behind AirTel) is also planning to launch a cheap Android tablet for Indian market.
Spice MiTab is having Android 2.2 (FroYo) running on 800 MHz Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm. The displays screen size of 7 inch is sufficient for small size tablet with 800×480 pixel display resolution. The tablet is also having 2MP camera installed in rear side and a front VGA camera for video chat on tablet device. Yes, it is a 3G ready tablet with Wi-Fi option as well for network connectivity. As most of the major cities even small district places in India are now having 3G network, one can easily browse Internet and even can use Video Calling from almost anywhere.
About the storage, MiTab is having 155MB of internal storage and that can be extended up to 32 GB using SD Card.
Are you impressed with the technical specification of Spice MiTab? I am not. Why, here is what I think is missing from the tablet.
What is missing from Spice MiTab
1. No Honeycomb or even Gingerbread
2. Slow processor. At least 1 GHz processor was expected
3. Mercury mTab is available at Rs. 9,499 with similar configuration. With this configuration, the price tag was expected below 10K
Alright folks, share your views on this new cheap tablet in Indian Market by Spice. Do you think Spice will be able to sell this tablet like hot cake in India even at this price tag or people will prefer to wait for more players.
