Update – Andorid 2.3 Gingerbread has been released by the company. To install the Gingerbread update on your LG Optimus One phone, read this step by step guide (with screenshots).
LG is committed to provide the Gingerbread update to Optimus One phone. The Optimus One phone was launched with Android 2.2 (Froyo) but it was said by the company officials that the phone will support Android 2.3 Gingerbread as well and the company will provide the Over-the-Air (OTA) update in future. Few days ago, the Facebook commuity member of fan of LG’s official Facebook page asked the administrator about the Gingerbread update for LG Optimus One and got reply that the update is expected to come by end of May 2011.
Here is the question that Rohan Rao (community member) asked to LG officials,
when is lg optimus one getting gingerbread updatee ie. android 2.3
Reply from LG official was,
The upgrade of LG Optimus One to android 2.3 is expected by May end & will be available in the Android market

After the first reply, LG official replied again as “The information is subject to change and confirmation on upgrade is yet awaited”. But anyway, we can assume that LG is working on providing the Gingerbread upgrade for Optimus One Android phone. In the reply they said the upgrade will be done through Android Market, but I am not sure whether that will happen from there or from LG Update Tool.
Alright folks, who all are having LG Optimus One can sit and relax as Gingerbread is coming to their phone by next month.
